 The primary objective of SML’s Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) is to support families by sharing the cost of education with the student and their family, when there is a demonstrated need. All U.S. citizens, seeking to enroll in grades K-8 school year, are eligible for TAP consideration.

Current Families - TIER 1

  • The TAP Priority Application Deadline is December 31. A complete application, including any requested forms, must be submitted through FACTS by the stated deadline.

  • Applications for tuition assistance completed after the Priority Deadline will be considered on a funds-available basis.

  • TAP decision notification will be emailed January 15 to current families who meet the TAP Priority Application Deadline.

  • Accept TAP award by responding to decision notification. Deadline to accept award is January 31 of the TAP decision, unless otherwise noted.

NEW Applicant Families - TIER 2

  • The TAP Priority Application Deadline is January 31. A complete application, including any requested forms, must be submitted through FACTS by the stated deadline.

  • Applications for tuition assistance completed after the Priority Deadline will be considered on a funds-available basis.

  • TAP decision notification will be emailed March 15, to admitted families who meet both the TAP Priority Application Deadline and Priority Application Deadline.

  • Accept TAP award by responding to decision notification. Deadline for acceptance is two weeks after receipt of the TAP decision, unless otherwise noted.

TUITION ASSISTANCE FAQs

  • No. We recommend applying for tuition assistance while you are working through the admissions process. Awards are made only after a student has been invited to SML.

  • CURRENT FAMILIES - TIER 1

    • Kindergarten - 8th grade are eligible for tuition assistance.

    • For priority consideration, FACTS application must be completed between December 1 - December 31. Login to FACTS.

    • Potential award notification by January 15.

    • Deadline for acceptance is two weeks after receipt of the TAP decision, unless otherwise noted.

    NEW APPLICANT FAMILIES - TIER 2

    • Kindergarten - 8th grade are eligible for tuition assistance.

    • For priority consideration, FACTS application must be completed between January 1 - January 31. Login to FACTS.

    • Potential award notification to admitted families by March 15.

    • Deadline for acceptance is two weeks after receipt of the TAP decision, unless otherwise noted.

  • Tuition assistance is applied to tuition only.

  • The tuition assistance application includes completing the online FACTS application and submitting required tax documents. The FACTS application asks for information about your income, expenses, assets and liabilities, as well as specifics about your family’s individual financial circumstances. An incomplete application to FACTS will only result in delays in our ability to offer assistance. Once FACTS has completed their review, SML’s Tuition Assistance Committee will review your file and make a decision. We encourage you to apply if you have multiple children in our programs.

  • Parents only need to complete one application for tuition assistance, which can include multiple students. Although only students in Kindergarten - 8th grade are eligible, we recommend listing all students (K-8th and younger students attending SML) on your application for FACTS to review.

  • Each individual family’s application is reviewed for demonstrated need. A family’s circumstances are considered as well as their income, assets, debts and liabilities.

  • There is not necessarily a “typical” award. Tuition assistance is awarded based on a family’s demonstrated need in consideration of funds available from the school.

  • All information related to the parents’ financial circumstances will be treated confidentially by the Tuition Assistance Committee.

  • Yes. SML requires families receiving tuition assistance to reapply each year.
